Galera
Galera is unique among Spain's thousands of villages, steeped in 4,000 years of history it is home to thousands of cave houses, each one distinctly different. Galera is set in lush green valleys carved out of the surrounding plateux by the Rivers of Galera and Huescar. Lying just off the A330 it is easily accessible from the A92N running between Granada and Murcia. Galera is located centrally among the Natural Parks of Cazorla, Castril, Maria Los Velez, and Baza, which are all withing easy driving distance. In the parks you can partake in the many country pastimes afforded by these wonderfully preserved areas. You can also visit the neighbouring villages and towns of Huescar, Orce, Cullar, Puebla de Don Fadrique and Baza. All within easy reach, stroll through their streets and visit their markets, restaurants, bars, museums and monuments. Also close to hand are the nearby archaeological sites revealing the first human presence in Europe and representing practically all cultures (historic as well as prehistoric) of Mediterranean origin.
